Delta Commons Group is Designated a Southern Cultural Hub

Delta Commons Group has been designated as one of the 5 Southern Culture Hubs participating in this year’s Artists At Work program of THE OFFICE performing arts + film.

Artists At Work is a workforce resilience program in the spirit of the WPA and is designed to support the rebuilding of healthy communities through artistic civic engagement.

From March 1, 2022, until the end of February 2023, two cultural workers will be employed with salaries and benefits to engage in cultural work within their local communities to uplift community culture and the arts. Delta Commons Group, serving as the local Culture Hub will supervise the work along with the involvement of local social justice partners who will also receive support for their participation.

While some of the groups participating as Culture Hubs will be making open calls to identify the local artists, Delta Commons Group has decided to make use of existing local relationships to identify artists to move forward with the program. The designated artists will be named in February and begin work in March.

The work in the community is intended to both promote art and culture as well as enhance local community efforts to build self-reliant, robust, and inclusive systems.
